Overall, the Academy Awards are pretty stuffy, boring, and longer than a secretary’s fingernails. The 86th Academy Awards, hosted by an always lively Ellen Degeneres, is not too different. I mean they played it safe since apparently Seth MacFarlane was too “offensive” for calling out women who showed their boobs on the screen. I mean, hey, they did. But anyway, here’s a run down of the winners, the best moments, and the times were I was like say what?!

Epic selfie: If selfies are good for anything it’s for live streaming a picture of Jennifer Lawrence, Jared Leto, Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, Ellen Degeneres, and others in a big group, seeming like the community we all hope Hollywood is. It was really a funny and special moment.
Pizza delivery: It’s great to see that these prestigious, Oscar de la Renta wearing actors still enjoy a nice slice of the pie with paper plates and napkins.
American Hustle goes home empty-handed: Despite the fact that The Great Gatsby was not a good movie, it really did deserve its awards for costume and set design. However, I was shocked that the 70s era stylish drama walked away with no golden guys.
The speeches: I was happy, but surprised that everyone kept the name-dropping to a minimum and focused on issues, metaphors, and genuine good feelings. It was so much better.
