Happy New Year everyone! This is generally a time for us to make goals and resolutions for the year ahead, and once again I’m going to make mine movie-related. I failed miserably about going to the theatre because I find it too expensive and I prefer watching movies where I can talk during them and pause and rewind them if I miss something.
This year is going to be a little different. I want to watch good movies, movies that mean something and that stand the test of time. I’ve decided that this year, I will watch IMDB’s top 250 movies and comment upon some of them. I know the list changes as new movies come out and opinions change, but I’m doing it how it stands today, and will do my best to watch new additions to the list and all that jazz.
It seems like a lot, but being a human being, I’ve always watched about 120 of the movies currently on the list. And there are two movies on there that I refuse to watch. The first is Hachi: A Dog’s Tale because it sounds like something that is only going to upset me. The second is Toy Story 3 because I’ve never been a big Toy Story fan and in order to watch the third, I’d have to watch the second and probably the first since it’s been a long time since I’ve seen it.
There are a lot of movies on there that I’ve been meaning to watch for a long time, like Shawshank Redemption, and some I’m excited about like Gravity (seriously, that movie just came out and it’s on the list) and the animated movies. Others I plan on plowing through or watching as much as I can stand, like Trainspotting (every story I read in college was the same plot) and some of the war movies. Maybe I’ll be surprised by some, disappointed by others, but no matter what happens, I can think of many less enjoyable ways to spend the new year.
You can find the current IMDB top 250 here: http://www.imdb.com/chart/top?ref_=nv_ch_250_4
What movies would you add to the list?
